¿POR QUÉ MISIÓN 20?

Hay un significado en el número 20, aunque el número no es exactamente lo relevante. El 20% representa una porción de la tatalidad. Creo que vemos en la biblia que Jesús se propuso cambiar el mundo, al cambiar una porción de la totalidad, y despues los comisionó a ir y hacer discipulos. Jesús comenzó con 12 discipulos, y dentro de los 12 tenía su grupo intimo de tres, que era el 25%. En la biblia vemos que se menciona los 70, 120 , y 500 discipulos. Jesús vino a establecer el reino de Dios pero  Él comenzó con unos pocos . Él sabia que si sus discipulos estaban bien entrenados y comprometidos con Él, entonces podrian cambiar el mundo, y así lo hicieron. 20 representa una guia. Por ejemplo, yo creo que si podemos tener el 20% de una iglesia comprometida con el plan de evangelismo y discipulado de MISIÓN 20 veremos crecer la iglesia. Si podemos hacer que el 20% más o menos  de las iglesias en una comunidad involucradas en  iglecresimento de MISIÓN 20, entonces podremos hacer serios progresos en evangelizar y discipular una comunidad. La clave no es, enviar personas solo por seguir un programa o registrar iglesias, solo por participar. La clave es hacer discipulos, qienes son enseñados, entrenados, y preparados para hacer las obras de Jesús. Estos discipulos e iglesias, pueden ser movilizados para alcanzar la cosecha en nuestras ciudades.  Puede haber un crecimiento en las iglesias en terminos de números de personas, y calidad de iglesias. Estas iglesias se pueden entonces multiplicar en la medida en que las ayudamos a plantar otras “buenas” iglesias.

MISIÓN 20 tine una meta de alcanzar y discipular 20% de la población de un pais. (hablaremos de edades en los grupos y personas en los grupos más tarde) ese 20%, no son  20% de “cristianos” se podrian incluir grupos que considerariamos no criatianos. Este 20% no es membresia o asistencia de una iglesia en una nación. Estamos hablando del 20% de una nación como discipulos ¿cómo sabemos quien es un discipulo? Los alacanzaremos, entrenaremos y continuaremos en una relación con ellos através de las iglesias en grupos de MISIÓN20. Algunos de ustedes son inteligentes (¿algunos? ¿deberia yo haber dicho “todos”? veremos) y ya han sacado en sus mentes que la cantidad son millones de personas. Es corrcto, si tomamos en consideración edades demograficas, estamos hablando de cerca de 4.000.000 de discipulos entrenados y discipulados en Venezuela. La primera nación en la que trabajaremos. Entrendos y Discipulados por MISION20. ¿Realmente creo que eso es posible? ¿Estoy loco? Yo creo que si comenzamos con un núcleo, y los entrenamos tan bien, el ministerio se convertirá en  su estilo de vida, entonces ellos serán exitosos en hacer lo que Jesús los llamó a hacer. Ellos harán discipulos que harán lo mismo y asu vez esos discipulos harán lo mismo. Así que sí, sí lo creo posible. También creo que serán las “primisias” quienes continuarán mobilizando y transformando a Venezuela. Trabajaremos a través de estos discipulos en Venezuela hasta que Jesús venga. Pero también iremos a otras naciones, o podemos continuar haciendo lo que se está ya haciendo, más actividades, aniversarios, y campañas. Podemos luchar con la continua frustración de ministerios que no crecen y no hacen discipulos. Podemos aceptar que la iglesia perderá personas, en la medida que gana nuevas. Podemos adaptarnos a la realidad del mundo mderno, ó, podemos tratar de hacerlo en una manera que es la manera de Jesús, ¡MISION20!.

"20"

Why Mission20? 

There is significance to the number 20. But the exact number isn't the point. 20% represents a portion of the whole. I think we see in the Bible that Jesus set out to change the world by changing a portion of the whole and then commissioning them to go and make disciples. Jesus started with 12 disciples. And within the 12 he had his inner group of 3, which was 25%.  In the Bible, we see mention of 70, 120, and 500 disciples. Jesus came to establish the Kingdom of God, but He began with a few. He knew if His disciples were so well trained and committed to Him, they would then be able to change the world. And they did!

20 is a guide. For example, I believe if we can get 20% of a church to commit to the Mission20 plan of evangelism and discipleship we will see the church grow. If we can get about 20% of the churches in a community involved in Mission20 church growth then we can make serious progress in evangelizing and discipling a community. 

The key is not signing people up for a program or registering churches to participate. The key is to make disciples who are taught, trained, and prepared to do the works of Jesus. These disciples and churches can be mobilized to reach the harvest in our cities. There can be a growth of churches in terms of numbers of people and quality of churches. These churches can then multiply as we help them to plant other "good" churches.

Mission20 has a goal to reach and disciple 20% of the population of a nation. (We'll talk about age groups and people groups later.) That 20% is not 20% 'Christian" which might include groups we would consider non-Christian. This 20% is not church membership or attendance in a nation. We are talking about 20% of the nation.... as disciples. How do we know who is a disciple? We will reach them, train them, and continue in a relationship with them through the churches and Mission20 groups. 

Some of you are smart (some? Should I have said "All"? We'll see) and have quickly figured in your minds that is millions of people. You are right. Taking age demographics into account we are talking about 4,000,000 disciples to be trained and discipled in Venezuela, the first nation we will work in. Trained and discipled by Mission20.

Do I really believe that is possible? Am I crazy? I believe if we start with a core and train them so well then ministry can become their lifestyle and they will be successful at doing what Jesus called them to do. They will make disciples who will do the same thing and those disciples will do the same thing. So yes I believe it. 

I also believe that the 20% will be the "firstfruits" who will continue to mobilize and transform Venezuela. We will work through these disciples in Venezuela until Jesus comes, but we will also go to other nations. 

Or we can continue to do what is being done. More church activities, anniversaries, and campaigns. We can fight the continued frustration of ministries that don't grow and that don't make disciples. We can accept that the church will lose people as they win new ones. We could adapt to the "Reality" of the modern world. Or we can try to do it in a way that is Jesus' way.

TRANSFORMACION

En una publicación anterior mencioné los principios de Movilización y Transformación. La última publicación estuvo dedicada a la Movilización. Hoy hablaremos sobre Transformación.


¿Qué es la transformación? La definición del diccionario dice "un cambio profundo o dramático en la forma o la apariencia". La Biblia nos dice que debemos ser transformados por la renovación de la mente. Hay más en la salvación que solo ir al cielo. La vida eterna es estar en una relación sin fin con Dios. La salvación es más que el perdón de los pecados y nacer de nuevo. La salvación implica sanación y liberación y vivir en una relación de pacto con Dios.


La iglesia ha sido comisionada para hacer discípulos. Los discípulos son aquellos que han nacido de nuevo y ahora tienen una relación de vida con el Señor. En obediencia a su dirección viven para hacer lo que dijo y lo que dice. Los hijos de Dios han sido restaurados a una relación con Él Y restaurados a su responsabilidad de tener dominio sobre esta tierra.


Los discípulos de Jesús y la iglesia están en posición de tener dominio al establecer y avanzar el Reino de Dios en la tierra. No estamos llamados a establecer reinos políticos, pero hemos sido llamados a traer un cambio profundo y dramático a las naciones del mundo. La iglesia no tiene la tarea solo de ganar gente para Jesús. Estamos llamados a hacer discípulos que deberían ser sal y luz y ser agentes de cambio. La iglesia debe ser una influencia justa en nuestras comunidades. Debería influir en el gobierno, los negocios, la educación, el entretenimiento, la sociedad y la cultura. Debemos pensar en términos de no solo cambiar la iglesia sino cambiar las naciones por el poder de Dios.


Escuchamos mucho sobre avivamiento. Y la iglesia necesita un avivamiento. Deberíamos estar orando y buscando avivamiento. Pero el avivamiento no cambia las naciones ...... y si tiene un impacto, no es permanente. Lance Wallnau dio un buen ejemplo de la diferencia entre el avivamiento y la transformación. Imagine un avión comercial lleno de 400 pasajeros en la cabina y una tripulación de 4 en la cabina. Puede haber un renacimiento y una gran cosecha en la cabina y muchos pasajeros pueden salvarse. El número de cristianos puede aumentar de 100 a 200 a 300. A pesar de la mayoría de los cristianos, el avión seguirá en el lugar donde lo pilotean el piloto y la tripulación. Pueden hacer que vuele en la dirección incorrecta e incluso bloquear el avión. Los cristianos necesitan ganar al equipo para el Señor y discipularlos. La "iglesia" necesita influenciar a los líderes. Los cristianos necesitan convertirse en líderes.


Algunos dirán que debemos orar por los "pilotos" y lo hacemos. Pero no podemos orar por líderes paganos y esperar que el cambio llegue sin testificar a los líderes. Dios tiene un plan para las escuelas, las "artes", los negocios, la economía, etc. Podemos ver el plan de Dios a través de la Transformación.

TRANSFORMATION

In a previous post I mentioned the principles of Mobilization and Transformation. The last post was dedicated to Mobilization. Today we will talk about Transformation. 

What is transformation? The dictionary definition says "a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance." The Bible tells us that we should be transformed by the renewing of the mind. There is more to salvation than just going to heaven. Eternal life is being in a non-ending relationship with God. Salvation is more than forgiveness of sins and being born again. Salvation involves healing and deliverance and living in a covenant relationship with God. 

The church has been commissioned to make disciples. Disciples are those who have been born again and now have a living relationship with the Lord. In obedience to His leading they live to do what He said and what He says. The children of God have been restored to a relationship with Him AND restored to their responsibility of having dominion over this earth. 

Disciples of Jesus and the church are in a position to have dominion by establishing and advancing the Kingdom of God on earth. We are not called to set up political kingdoms but we have been called to bring a thorough and dramatic change to the nations of the World. The church is not tasked only with winning people to Jesus. We are called to make disciples who should be salt and light and be agents of change. The church should be a righteous influence in our communities. It should influence government, business, education, entertainment, society, and culture. We must think in terms of not just changing the church but changing the nations by the power of God. 

We hear a lot about revival. And the church needs revival. We should be praying and seeking Revival. But revival doesn't change the nations...... and if it has an impact, it isn't permanent. Lance Wallnau gave a nice example of the difference between revival and transformation. Imagine a  commercial jet filled with 400 passengers in the cabin and a crew of 4 in the cockpit. There can be a revival and great harvest in the cabin and many passengers can be saved. The number of Christians can increase from 100 to 200 to 300. Despite a majority of Christians, the plane will still go where the pilot and crew fly it. They can cause it to fly in the wrong direction and even crash the plane. The Christians need to win the crew to the Lord and disciple them. The "church" needs to influence the leaders. Christians need to become leaders. 

Some will say we need to pray for the "pilots" and we do. But we can't pray for heathen leaders and expect change to come without witnessing to leaders. God has a plan for schools, the "arts," business, the economy, etc. We can see God's plan come forth through Transformation.

MOVILIZACION

El propósito de Misión20 es movilizar Oración, Personas, y Poder para cambiar las vidas de individuos con el Evangelio y transformar naciones estableciendo el Reino de Dios. Para entender Misión20 tienes que entender el concepto de Movilización.
Dictinary.com incluye lo siguiente en la definición de movilización: “comandar, juntar, preparar (poder, fuerza, riqueza, etc.) para la acción, especialmente de naturaleza vigorosa.” Otras definiciones arrojan luz sobre el significado:
1. Reunir o comandar (fuerzas armadas, reservas militares, o personas civiles en edad militar) hacia un estado de alistamiento para servicio activo.
2. Organizar o adaptar (industrias, medios de transporte, etc.) para servicio al gobierno en tiempo de guerra.
3. Incrementar o hacer llegar a un estado de desarrollo total.
4. Reunir u organizar para la guerra.

Me gusta mucha esta definición: “La movilización es el proceso de capacitar a algo para moverse, o tener gente y recursos listos para moverse o actuar”.
Nos quejamos bastante que el pueblo de Dios no hace mucho o que la iglesia no está haciendo nada--- “la gente se sienta a calentar las bancas y no hacen nada”. ¡Esas personas necesitan ser movilizadas!
Para entender la movilización en el contexto ministerial debemos pensar en otros dos términos –motivación y activación. La motivación es el deseo general o voluntad de alguien para hacer algo. La mayor parte de nuestra prédica/enseñanza es motivación. Le decimos a la gente qué debe hacer y por qué debe hacerlo. Por ejemplo, “necesitas ganar a los perdidos”, “sirve a Jesús por todo lo que Él ha hecho por ti”. Motivamos y animamos y si tenemos éxito ellos tendrán un deseo o voluntad para actuar. La motivación es importante. ¡PERO ESO NO ES MOVILIZACIÓN! ¿Qué hay de la activación? La activación es la acción o proceso de hacer que alguien se active. En la iglesia hablamos de activar a los líderes. La activación es importante. ¡PERO ESO NO ES MOVILIZACIÓN!
Se puede motivar y activar a los cristianos en posiciones de liderazgo, pero sin movilización se logra muy poco que tenga valor duradero. La movilización hace que las personas motivadas y líderes activados se junten con una estratega ordenada por Dios, con recursos provistos por Dios, y con entrenamiento y desarrollo dirigidos por Dios. En la movilización las personas se asocian con un ministerio/iglesia que se ha adaptado para guerrear, no solo para una actividad.

Necesitamos motivar al pueblo a orar y activar líderes de oración pero tiene que haber un esfuerzo para movilizar oración ferviente y efectiva. En la guerra se hace lo que se necesita hacer. La oración no necesita ser algo que se hace algunas veces. Las personas pueden ser movilizadas –enseñadas, entrenadas, equipadas y puestas en equipos – para ser parte de una estrategia para avanzar el Reino de Dios. Quizá la necesidad más grande es incluir el Poder de Dios en nuestros planes de movilización. Por mucho tiempo la iglesia ha estado tratando de alcanzar a los perdidos con evangelismo programado y eventos secularizados. Necesitamos demostrar el poder de Dios a un mundo perdido.

¿De verdad pensamos que la iglesia prevalecerá sin hacer el ministerio a la manera de Dios? Por mucho tiempo hemos hecho lo que se nos enseñó o sabíamos sea que fuera o no exitoso. Quizá tratemos de hacer ajustes y hacerlo mejor. Pero lo que necesitamos hacer es fijarnos en lo que Jesús hizo en los Evangelios y cómo la iglesia funcionó en el Libro de los Hechos. Como la Iglesia del Libro de los Hechos necesitamos movilizarnos para un esfuerzo a todo dar para sanar los enfermos y predicar el Reino de Dios.

MOBILIZATION

The Purpose of Mission20 is to Mobilize Prayer, People, and Power to change the lives of individuals with the Gospel and transform nations by establishing the Kingdom of God. To understand Mission20 you have to understand the concept of Mobilization.

Dictionary.com includes the following in the definition of mobilization: “to marshal, bring together, prepare (power, force, wealth, etc.) for action, especially of a vigorous nature.” Other definitions shed light on the meaning:

1. To assemble or marshal (armed forces, military reserves, or civilian persons of military age) into readiness for active service.

2. To organize or adapt (industries, transportation facilities, etc.) for service to the government in time of war.

3. to increase or bring to a full stage of development

4. To assemble or organize for war.

I like this definition very much: “Mobilization is the process of making something capable of movement, or to have people and resources ready to move or act”

We complain a lot that the people of God don’t do much or that the church isn’t doing anything---- “people just sit on the pews and do nothing” They need to be mobilized!

To understand mobilization in the context of ministry we must think about 2 other terms – motivation and activation. Motivation is the general desire or willingness of someone to do something. Most of our preaching/teaching is motivation. We tell people what they should do and why. For example, “You need to win the lost." “Serve Jesus because of all He has done for you.” We motivate and encourage and if we are successful they will have a desire or willingness to act. Motivation is important. BUT THAT ISN’T MOBILIZATION! How about activation?  Activation is the action or process of making something active. In the church we talk about activating leaders. Activation is important. BUT THAT ISN’T MOBILIZATION!

Christians can be motivated and can be activated in positions of leadership, but without mobilization very little of lasting value will be accomplished. Mobilization brings together motivated people and activated leaders with God ordained strategy, God provided resources, and God directed training and development. In mobilization people partner with a ministry/church that has been adapted to war not just an activity.

We need to motivate people to pray and activate prayer leaders but there needs to be an effort to mobilize fervent and effective prayer. In war you do what needs to be done. Prayer need not be something that is sometimes done. People can be mobilized – taught, trained, equipped, and placed on teams – to be a part of a strategy to advance the Kingdom of God. Perhaps the greatest need is to include the Power of God in our mobilization plans. For too long the church has been trying to reach the lost with programmed evangelism and secularized events. We need to demonstrate the power of God to a lost world.

Do we really think that the church will prevail without doing ministry God’s way? For way too long we have done what we were taught or knew whether it was or wasn’t successful. We might try to tweak it and do it better. But what we need to do is look at what Jesus did in the Gospels and how the church worked in the Book of Acts. Like the Book of Acts Church we need to mobilize for an all out effort to heal the sick and preach the Kingdom of God.
